You’ll fly overnight to Phu Quoc.
Touch down on the island of Phu Quoc. Once you’ve checked in to your hotel, you’ll have the rest of the day to go out and explore or chill by the pool.
Stay: Seashells Phu Quoc Hotel & Spa (or similar)
After a morning of free time in Phu Quoc, you’ll take a short flight to the capital city of Hanoi. It’s on the Vietnamese mainland, in the north. Free time in the morning and evening.
Stay: Mercure La Gare Hotel | Meals: Breakfast & Lunch
Today, you’ll go on a day-long guided tour of the city, whizz around the old quarter on a cyclo, and see a puppet show in the evening.
- Visit the mausoleum and former residence of Ho Chi Minh, then continue to the Temple of Literature, a one-time university filled with courtyards and gardens.
- Learn about the textile styles that represent the country’s different ethnic groups by watching a lecture at the Ethnology Museum.
- Hop in a cyclo – a cross between a bike and a tuk tuk – for a ride through the old quarter, via Silk Street, Rice Street and Paper Street.
- Finish the day by watching a performance of a Water Puppet Show at Thang Long Theatre. This tradition dates back to the 11th century.

You’ll be driven to Halong Bay this morning, where you’ll board a 4* ship. You’ll sail around the bay, visit a fishing village, and bed down on the ship for the night.
- Sightsee from the comfort of the ship. Halong Bay’s landscape is a real crowd-pleaser, with limestone islands rising dramatically from the water.
- Visit a fishing village and meet the residents who have been living here for almost three generations.
- Relax on board the ship in the evening with a cocktail and a gourmet dinner. The sunset is particularly spectacular from the water.

You’ll wake up in Halong Bay. There’s time this morning to visit a limestone grotto. Then you’ll depart the boat, transfer back to Hanoi, and fly to Hue in the evening.
- Cruise to one of the bay’s intricate limestone grottoes. These photo-ready coastal caverns are full of natural arches, holes and pillars.

Today’s all about getting under the skin of Hue – pronounced ‘hway’. Your day-long historical guided tour includes a river cruise and a visit to a pagoda.
- Relax on a boat trip down the Perfume River. Its name comes from the sweet-smelling forests that the river winds its way through.
- Make a stop at the 500-year-old Thien Mu Pagoda, a well-preserved religious site in Vietnam and one of the most famous landmarks in the country.
- Marvel at the UNESCO-approved Citadel, home to time-worn palaces and temples. Then visit the elaborate tomb of Emperor Khai Dinh.
- On the way back to the hotel, stop at a roadside village to watch how the locals make cinnamon incense and traditional conical hats.

There’s a full day of sightseeing on the agenda today. By coach, you’ll journey across the Hai Van Pass, which weaves its way along Vietnam’s north-east coast.
- Snap photos of far-reaching vistas of the sea, beaches, towns, fishing villages and farmland as you weave around this mountain-hugging trail.
- Tick off sights like the secluded Lang Co and My Khe beaches. You’ll also stop at China Beach, where a television programme of the same name was filmed.
- You’ll arrive at Hoi An in the early evening, where you’ll stay for the next three nights.

Day 9: Today, you’ve got a morning excursion to the ancient ruins of My Son, followed by free time to explore Hoi An at your own pace.
- My Son is a jungle-wrapped, crumbling temple complex. Explore the remains of the buildings, and check out the old town’s pagodas and bridges.

Free day in Hoi An. Today is yours to do what you want. If you’re ready for some downtime, head to the white sands of An Bang Beach – it’s a 15-minute cab ride from the city.

This morning you’ll fly to Ho Chi Minh. Then you’ll take a tour of this bustling city, where skyscrapers and age-old monuments rub shoulders.
- Spy the Notre Dame Cathedral and the Central Post Office. Built by French colonists, they both catch the eye with their distinct styles.
- Visit the War Remnants Museum, which tells the story of the 20-year-long Vietnam War. Then pop into the traditional medicine museum.

This morning you’ll visit the Cu Chi tunnels. Then, in the afternoon, you’ll be free to explore the markets and skyscrapers of Ho Chi Minh City.
- The 200-kilometre-long network of the tiny Cu Chi tunnels were used during the war. Your visit will be guided, plus you can climb into one if you want.

Today, you’ll leave Ho Chi Minh City and head to Can Tho via the pretty agricultural area known as the ‘rice bowl’ of Vietnam – the Mekong Delta.
- Go on a boat trip and cruise past tiny islands, stop off at orchards and bonsai gardens, and try some of the fruit that’s grown in the region.
- Cycle a nine-mile route past rice fields and a noodle factory.
- Visit the village of Cai Son, where you can have a go at crossing its ‘monkey bridge’, which is made from little more than some well-placed branches.

This morning, you’ll visit the famous Cai Rang floating market, the busiest in the Mekong Delta. Then you’ll fly to Phu Quoc for the last leg of the tour.
- Take an on-the-water tour of the Cai Rang floating market. It’s a particularly colourful experience, where boats are piled high with everything from watermelons to carrots.
