Stay in the special Star Arctic hotel, perfect for spotting the Northern Lights, or even see Santa flying with his reindeer, from the warmth of your room or glass cabin.
Fly over the Arctic Circle to Ivalo Airport where a reindeer and his friends welcome you and help you retrieve your thermal suits. Settle in to your hotel and then prepare for the first adventure, the Wilderness Dinner and Aurora Hunt by Huskies.
This extra day on the 4-day break will normally be your second day and we have arranged a wide variety of optional excursions for your family to enjoy. The top of the toboggan run is right next to the hotel, along with a souvenir shop and you can try some downhill skiing on the nearby ski slopes.

It’s almost the end of your holiday but panic not! We have an exciting snowmobile ride for you from the hotel to the reindeer farm. Visit the farm, meet the reindeer and enjoy a reindeer sleigh ride before returning to the hotel by snowmobiles.
It’s then a short ride by coach to Ivalo Airport with a host of memories and stories to tell about magical Lapland.

This is an early evening snowmobile expedition in search of the mystical Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis. Children travel in a sleigh which is pulled by a separate snowmobile whilst adults share a snowmobile. This is a must-do activity when visiting Lapland.
RUDOLPH'S REINDEER RUN
This is a relaxing and magical experience for families or even a romantic sleigh ride just for two. Snuggle under blankets as reindeer pull your sleigh through the unspoilt beauty of the Lapland forest, with only the gliding off the sleigh and the occasional sounds of the reindeer disturbing the peace and quiet.
HUSKY HEAVEN
If our included husky sled-ride whets your appetite, this additional trip gives you longer to feel the thrill of driving your own team of huskies as you race through the Lapland woodland.
FAMILY SNOWMOBILE SAFARI
This is a chance for active families to drive out into the snowy wilderness surrounding the village of Saariselkä. With two per snowmobile, and children in a special sled pulled behind the guide’s snowmobile this is a great activity for the whole family and the perfect opportunity to witness the magical winter wonderland.
ADULT SNOWMOBILE SAFARI
This is a more adventurous snowmobile trip for adults only with a chance to enjoy some adrenaline fueled fun, speeding through the forests and snow-covered fields.
LAPLAND DOWNHILL SKIING
Saariselkä’s ski-slopes are ideal for beginners, or for intermediates wanting a quick ‘blast’! With 15 pistes on offer, this is a great taster of skiing in Lapland.
SNOW-SHOEING
This is a lovely way to explore the tranquility of Lapland’s pristine winter wonderland and perfect for families who love to be active and outdoors. The excursion is guided and full instructions are given so you can explore the local area.
CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING
Experience the beauty of Saariselkä’s surrounding landscape, skiing along well prepared tracks through the pure snowy whiteness of Lapland. Learn the techniques on how to go up slopes as well as down them and how to glide along effortlessly with your guide.
AURORA HUNT BY SNOWMOBILE
An evening expedition snowmobile looking for the magical Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis. Children travel in a sleigh which is pulled by a separate snowmobile whilst adults share a snowmobile and the minimum height for riding pillion is 140cm. A must-do activity when visiting Lapland.
